lolita cuevas and frantz casseus – haitian folk songs (folkways 10″ mini-lp, 1953) / mirror

People on the move and displaced, either physically or emotionally, are very much on my mind this week. This suite of songs from Haiti offers gentle comfort. Recorded in 1953 for the interesting Folkways label, the combination of Casseus‘ guitar and Cuevas‘ voice spans eras and continents… pretty much everyone I played this to wanted more. Have the whole thing.

edit: updated link + added mirror link.

Listening on a few Youtube clips now, sounds great! Too bad Mediafire already blocked your download since I would love to listen to the whole shebang.
I’ve seen that Moi J’Connais recently released Casseus own old 10″ with guitar instrumentals.
