Darren Cunningham released his third album as Actress this week, and it is a thing of serious beauty. “R.I.P.” is a cohesive 15-track odyssey into the mind of Actress – which appears to be heavily textured. The album combines influences as diverse as nineties intelligent dance music [sic] like Aphex Twin, Oval and The Black Dog, a trip to the Congo,  inner city life and Death. The result is more than these things: an exciting electronic album that works best when listened to from start to finish – sample a track above, and pick up what is destined to be one of the albums of 2012 if you like what you hear.
