2011 has been another great year for the Jazzman label – besides releases on the main label the Jukebox Jam imprint has been going from strength to strength, and the new Popcorn label was launched. The label is named after the genre of the same name – born in Belgium(!). Check out this 12-minute documentary for a feel of the scene’s history. One of my favorite releases on the label has been #7: a 45 featuring fifties recordings by jazz singer Frank Minion. Love the atmospheric vibe of both tracks.

nijs willem. hoewel ik denk dat de popcorn dj’s how much land wel drastisch naar beneden zullen pitchen als ik zie op wat voor tempo’s men bij popcorn voorbij schuifelt in die overigens leuke documentaire.
